Marriage of Figaro - performances were December 17th (7:30 PM) and 18th (2 PM)

Opera51 recently gave two performances of Mozart's very popular and light-hearted Marriage of Figaro as a break from more traditional holiday fare.  In a concert production, veteran Opera51 soloists, orchestra, and chorus delighted the audience with the many well-known melodies and the antics of clever and ever-resourceful Figaro.

More information including the cast list is on the details page.

Tosca - performances June 9th (8 PM), 10th (2 and 8 PM), and 11th (2 PM), 2023

Continuing Opera51's presentations of Puccini's immensely popular dramatic works, this coming June we will be staging Tosca under the artistic direction of Robin Farnsely and conductor Alan Yost.  More details will be posted at a later date.

Opera51 presented two performances of Puccini's dramatic masterpiece Turandot in June 2022 after two postponements due to COVID.  This is one of Puccini's finest efforts, and was his final opera.  In addition to the wildly popular Nessun dorma, there are other arias of transporting beauty as well as richly textured orchestral and choral passages.

Selected comments received by email from attendees match the palpable enthusiasm from the audience in the hall:

"Congrats on a splendid, compelling production of Turandot! The Princess and Calaf were first rate, the 3 Ps delightful, and the rest of the cast and orchestra fully up to the task. The semi-staging and use of the space and its features were totally convincing. Two months ago we went to New York to see the Metís luscious Zeffirelli production before it is retired. In all sincerity, we enjoyed Opera51ís production just as much and in some respects even more."

"My wife and I went to Friday nightís performance. We had no expectations, but it was GREAT! We were really impressed with the quality of the singing and the orchestra. We are very used to the Metís Zeffirrelli production, but the intimacy of Opera51 allowed us to focus more on the music and not the grandiosity."
